Juneteenth

Juneteenth is a newly recognized holiday in the United States, but not really a newly celebrated one.

Juneteenth has been around since 1865 when General Gordon Granger proclaimed the freedom of enslaved people in Texas.

It’s celebrated generally as an emancipation celebration and a celebration of black history.

A town near me is having a Juneteenth celebration today and I’m going with a friend. It should be fun.

I’m all about celebrating history and it’s something to get me out of the house.

I changed my sheets already and the pillow cases are in the washer.

Go me!

Now I just have to do the shower thing.

Image stolen from the internet. Lol.
